It’s a tale as old as time: As the temperatures go up, the clothes get skimpier. With spring here, we’re starting to shed our jackets and jeans in favor of breezy skirts and sundresses. Gone too are the boots, replaced by sandals (likely a lace-up per Pinterest) and, if you’re feeling especially casual, flip flops. But the next time you pull on a pair, consider your destination. Unless you’re headed straight to the beach or running a quick errand, Michael Kors would really prefer you pick something a bit more substantial.
“Don’t think flip-flops belong on city streets,” he said firmly to the New York Post. “They don’t.” While we can’t speak for Kors, the issue is likely a mix of way too much exposure (sorry, but sidewalks are dirty!) and the fact that few things are worse for your feet than unsupportive rubber thongs. Do sandals, but keep them more substantial; to make your outfit feel a little fancier, try a pair of lace-up flats.
